Hockey Hubs (Year 3 - 4)  2025

"Removing barriers of time and travel and increasing the skill and confidence level in our players both as individuals and as a team - while all happening in YOUR community".​​​​​​​

Our goals at the Hub, are to grow the overall skill levels of our players, game play and use of space and of course - LOTS OF FUN! ​​​​​​​

Our Hubs

The Hockey Hubs will commence in their various locations, in the week beginning Monday 12 May.

If you are interested in playing in one of the Hubs, please contact your school Sports Coordinator.

Hockey Hub North:

Held at Omokoroa #1 on Wednesday at 4.30pm - 5.30pm (start day Wed 14 May)

Includes the following schools:

  • Te Puna
  • Whakamarama
  • Omokoroa #1
  • Omokoroa Point
  • Katikati
  • Waihi Beach
  • Pahoia
  • Matahui

Hockey Hub East:

Held at Te Manawa o Papamoa on Thursdays at 4.15pm - 5.15pm (start day Thur 15 May)

Includes the following schools:

  • Golden Sands Primary
  • Papamoa Primary
  • Te Akau ki Papamoa
  • Te Manawa o Papamoa
  • Suzanne Aubert Catholic School
  • other schools and students are welcome to join


Format

All students from the Year 3 - 4 school groups are welcome; whether they are experienced players or new to the game. Enter as a team of at least 4-6 players with a coach/manager. ​​​​​​​ 

Each weekly session includes:

  • warm up activity
  • 2 x 10 coached hockey skill activities
  • 3-4 x 10 minute hockey games on an 1/8th - 1/4 turf to maximise touches on ball

It is also a great place to grow youth umpires and local parents to become facilitators, team builders and coaches. ​​​​​​​

Cancellations

In the event that a Fun Sticks session is cancelled due to adverse weather, it will be up to the Fun Sticks location Coach/Coordinator if a catch-up session is held.

Photos

We will from time to time, take photos of our tamariki at the Fun Sticks locations, if you are not wanting your child to be used in any social media or other promotion material, please let us know.
