Thunder and Lightning Procedure 2023

Our Officiating and Development Officer, Kelly Hudson, reviewed FIH rules for thunder and lightning and has adjusted our rules for our competitions. To read the procedure click on the orange button on this page.

The emphasis is on safety of all participants. Please follow the instructions of our competition co-ordinators or the umpires and exit the turfs rapidly. Play will resume once conditions have been assessed and the requirements under the procedure have been met.

Tsunami Procedure

Listen to the instructions of our co-ordinator, if there is one. Act sensibly, exit the turfs and head to the nearest highest point. Blake Park is in the safe zone and Civil Defence has also advised that the nearest high point is the high bank on the Bay Oval cricket ground next to the hockey centre.
